Take Me Home!

These are just some of the animals that we have that are looking for good homes - today!

Because we do a pre-homing visit for all our animals, our homing area is restricted.  Please contact the sanctuary before visiting to check we are able to rehome in your area.

CATS

The sanctuary currently have many semi feral cats and kittens.  These are looking for homes in stables or on small holdings where they can come and go as they please without having to have lots of human attention.

They are happy to live outside as long as you have somewhere where you can keep them in for up to six weeks initially to get them settled.

Some semi feral kittens we have in will be suitable to live in a home environment if there is someone who is experienced and willing to put in time and give them plenty of handling.  It can be a slow process but once these cats trust you they can be extremely friendly.

Sampson came into us as a stray and is very scared.  He is obviously not used to being indoors.  He is looking for an understanding owner with no children who will give him time to settle down.

He is currently living with another cat here so would benefit from company if they are separated.

Sampson is not going to be a lap cat and at the moment doesn't like being handled.

J.C and Taylor were found living in a scrap yard when they were very young and had been born in the wild.  JC is quite confident now and he can be stroked but Taylor is still shy and nervous of people.

They are looking for a home with no other animals or children and their new owners will need to have time and patience to gain their confidence.  They are 5-6mths of age.

Mo and Sammy are looking for a retirement home.  Mo is 11-12 years of age and Sammy is 10.  Sammy has had her ears removed due to skin cancer which is very common in white cats.  These cats are great - they love attention and will be no bother in anyone's home.

If you have a quiet home and are out at work and are looking to give a home to a needy cat please don't dismiss these because of their age.  They really are adorable and deserve to spend the rest of their years in a loving home.

Sainsbury also known as Matilda was found wandering in the Sainsbury Supermarket at Plympton.

She is a middle aged cat who is very affectionate.

DOGS

Jake is 11yrs of age and came to the sanctuary after his owner claimed he was to big for the accommodation and that she was pregnant.

He travels fine in the car, is fine to be left and is fully housetrained.

He would need to be rehoused with no other animals as if a dog pesters him too much he will snap.

Demi is a two year old Rottweiler whose has bundles of energy.  She is good with other dogs but is looking for a home with no other animals as she doesn't relax when she has lived with dogs in the past.

Demi is great off the lead and loves to play and is looking for a strong, experienced and active owner who can give her the time she needs.

She is very loveable and good with all people.

Chaz and Pickle came in together after their owner passed away and the family were unable to cope.  Chaz (Boxer) is an eight year old female Boxer and Pickle is a fourteen year old Jack Russell.

These dogs are very close are are looking for a home where they can stay together.  Although they are in their older years they both have plenty of energy and have no health problems.  They are housetrained, will chase cats and used to older children.  Pickle can be sick in the car so she wouldn't be able to travel long journeys.

Chaz and Pickle are great fun and deserve a lovely home to retire in.

CC is a tri Collie aged 6-7yrs who likes most dogs, is housetrained and used to being left.  He does not like cats.

He is extremely obedient, good off the lead and loves to play with toys.

Archie is a nine year old Staffi who came in after his owners circumstances changed.

He is no good with other animals and is used to wearing a muzzle when out of the house.

He is housetrained and used to being left most of the day.  Archie will need a responsible owner that understand his dislikes to other animals.

Poppy has spent the majority of her short life in a kennel environment.

She is good with dogs out on a walk but is looking for a home with no other animals.

She travels fine in the car but will need an owner who is willing to giver her some basic training.  She has regular dog walkers at the sanctuary who don't understand why she is never chosen.

Savanna is a 6 mth old English Bull Terrier cross who is looking for a home with no other animals or young children.

She was bought into the sanctuary because her owner couldn't cope with her puppy behaviour and a young child.

Savanna has bundles of energy and is in need of basic training  but will make a great companion.

Max is a two and half year golden Labrador who is need of a special home and owner.

He has had two home environments and on both occasion needs to be able to have constant access to an outside area.  Once a door is closed and he cannot get out he gets very distressed.  It is almost as if he is claustrophobic.

He gets very destructive even if people are there and will not calm down until a outside door is open again.  Max is a very strong dog who would suit a working life.  He loves to please and has bundles of energy.

RABBITS

We have general rules for accommodation sizes for rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents.  We do work with people to achieve the best for animals in the cheapest way.

For rabbits hutch and runs must be connected and run size no smaller than 6ft x 4ft for one rabbit of a small breed and 6ft x 6ft for two small breeds.  the hutch size depends on the rabbit and the size of the exercise run, but usually 4ft long is the smallest.

Guinea pigs generally 4ftx4ft run and a 4ft hutch is the smallest sizes for 1-2 guinea pigs.

PLEASE REMEMBER THE BIGGER THE BETTER!!

These are just a selection of the animals we have - please contact the sanctuary for more information.

Leona lives with brother who looks identical and are looking for a home together as they are very close.

They are both neutered and have been at the sanctuary since December.

They are friendly rabbits but do not like to be picked up.

Maple, April and June are sisters and have been at the sanctuary since November.

They came in as strays and are ideally looking for a home together, although can be separated if they are to have the company of another rabbit.

Bandi is one year old whose owner lost interest.

He is looking for a home where he receives handling as he can be quite scatty.

With a little time and patience he will make a lovely companion for any rabbit lover.

He cannot live with another rabbit.

Willow and Presley have been at the sanctuary since February and need to be homed together.

Willow has had blocked eyes in the past so she need to be monitored in the future.

Aiesha is a adult female Dutch rabbit who has been spayed. She was found abandoned. She is looking for a understanding owner with no children who will put up with her grumpy and territorial behaviour.

She can go on her own or ideally with a neutered male.

Tula is one year old female spayed who came in because she was fighting with the other female rabbit.

She is a very scared rabbit who needs a quiet home.

We think that maybe a boyfriend would help her and make her feel more confident.

RODENTS

Please see general note at top of rabbit section.

Dillis is one of many gerbils that is looking for a new home. She is 7 months old.

She would require housing of the same size or larger. She currently lives in a fish tank with a mesh lid.

Hutch is a young adult mouse.

He would require housing of the same size or larger.

Luke is a one of many mice which were found abandoned in a pile of sawdust during the summer.

He is thought to be a young adult and is very friendly.

They came in after their owner became mentally ill and was unable to cope with the amount of rats she had.

They are all males and approximately six months of age.
